General Set-up Information

How to create a dial-up connection in Windows 9x, ME, 2000, and XP:

1. Click on start and then "Run"

2. Type in inetwiz and click ok

3. Make sure that "Connect using my phone line" is selcted and click next

4. If you see a window asking you if you want to "Create a new connection" select that. If you don't see that screen, skip to step 5

5. In this window, un-check the box that says "use area code" (or something similar). Type the dial-up number: 541-284-4024 in the telephone number box, and click next.

6. Type in your username (your EPUD email address without "@epud.net" after it) and password, and click next

7. Change the name of the connection to epud.net and click next

8. If you wish to use your EPUD email choose yes and next. If not (for example you already have/use a Yahoo, Gmail, or MSN/Hotmail, etc. account) then choose no, click next, and skip to step 14

9. If it asks you if you want to "Create New ..." or "Use existing ..." choose "Create New" and next. If it doesn't ask you that, skip to step 10

10. Type in your real name (however you'd like it to look) and click next

11. Type in your email address (example username@epud.net) and click next

12. Make sure it shows "POP3" at the top and then type mail.epud.net in both the long white boxes for incoming and outgoing and click next

13. Your "Account name" should already be there, if not type in your username. Type in your password in the password box. Make sure that "Log on using secure password authentication" is not checked, and click next

14. Click finish and enjoy the World Wide Web!

 

How to Create a Dial-Up Connection to EPUD in Windows Vista:

From the Desktop:

1. Click on your Windows logo

2. Click on Control panel

3. Click on Classic View (on the left)

4. Click on Network and sharing center

5. Click on Set up a connection or Network (on the left)

6. Click on Set up a dial-up connection

7. In this window enter the access number: 541-284-4024. Then enter your username and password. Enter EPUD for the connection name, make sure that your phone line is connected to the computer and click connect.

 

How to create a dial-up connection in Mac OS 8.6-9.2:

Click on your Apple icon (top left)

2. Click on "Control Panels"

3. Click on "Remote Access"

4. Make sure that "Registered User" is selected, next to "Name" type in your username (do not type "@epud.net" after it) type your password in the password box, type in the access number: 541-284-4024 in the number box. Simply close the window and save your changes.

 

How to create a dial-up connection in Mac OS 10/X:

Click on your Apple icon (top left)

2. Click on "System Preferences"

3. Click on "Network"

4. Make sure that "Show" has "Internal or External Modem" listed in the drop-down menu. Click on the "PPP" tab.

5. Next to "service Provider" type in epud.net, next to "Account Name" type in your username (do not type in "@epud.net" after it), next to "Password" type in your password, next to "Telephone Number" type in the access number: 541-284-4024

6. Click on the "TCP/IP" tab, make sure that "Configure" shows "Using PPP" in the drop-down menu

7. Click "Apply Now" in the bottom right, and close the window

 

Windows Mail for Vista Configuring Your Email in Windows Mail for Windows Vista:

1. In Windows Mail click on Tools

2. Click on Accounts

3. Click on Add

4. Click on Email Account, and Next

5. In the "Display Name" type in your real name (however you'd like it to appear) and then Next

6. Type in your email address (example: username@epud.net) and then Next

7. Make sure the email server type is set to POP. Type mail.epud.net in both server boxes. Then check the little box that says "Outgoing server requires authentication" and then Next

8. The username should be your full EPUD email address (e.g. janed@epud.net), and type your password. Then click Next

9. Click Finish

 

Outlook Express Configuring Your Email in Outlook Express for Windows:

1. In Outlook Express click on Tools.

2. Click on Accounts.

3. Click on the Mail tab.

4. Click on the Add button, then click on Mail in the menu that appears.

5. Type in your name and click on Next.

6. Type in your e-mail address (example: username@epud.net) and click on Next.

7. Type in mail.epud.net for the incoming mail server. Type in mail.epud.net for the outgoing mail server. Click on Next.

8. Change your account name to your full EPUD email address (janed@epud.net). Type in your password. You won't see the password as you type it in; you will see ******. If you want the program to remember your password so you don't have to type it in each time, click in the box next to Remember password. Click on Next.

9. Click on Finish.

 

Netscape 7 Configuring Your Email in Netscape 7:

1. Open "Netscape Mail & Newsgroups" (either by selecting it from the program group in your Start menu, or by opening the Netscape browser, then clicking the Window menu, then selecting Mail & Newsgroups).

2. Click the Edit menu, then click Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings...

3. Click the Add Account button

4. Select "Email account" as the type of account you would like to set up. Click Next.

5. For Your Name enter in any name you like to be called. Your Email Address starts with your EPUD username. For instance, if your username is janed, then your EPUD email address is janed@epud.net. Click Next.

6. Select POP as the type of incoming server you are using. The Incoming Server name is mail.epud.net Your outgoing mail server is mail.epud.net Click Next.

7. Your User Name is just your full EPUD email address (e.g. janed@epud.net). Click Next.

8. The Account Name identifies the account on your computer. It can be set to whatever you wish, and a default value is provided. Click Next.

9. Double check your settings. If anything is incorrect, you can click Back to revise your settings. When everything is correct, click Finish

10. You should now be able to send and receive your EPUD mail!

 

Thunderbird Configuring Your Email in Thunderbird:
